  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Fresh Water Use a Reusable Water Bottle
Using the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed - both humans and wildlife - by this bottling process?

Using what you have instead of supporting further harm by buying things you don't necessarily need is a great way to reduce your impact, or buying or using secondhand instead of new. Aesthetics feel like they matter but in reality that isn't necessarily better for anyone or anything.

it's super easy to just not be wasteful when it comes to the toilet - don't dump random stuff in it and don't flush when it's empty
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

I should keep reusable bags in my car so that if I am ever found needing one, I will have it. Usually when I run to the store it’s only for a few things, so I can carry it out. But if I ever go full grocery shopping or shopping with my parents, I should make sure we have reusable bags.

I learned that there are many animal-borne diseases that get transmitted as places are industrialized and deforested, and that biodiversity increases an ecosystem's resilience.

    People Spend Time Outside
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

I completed three challenges today! I spent 15 minutes reading the provided resources about water justice movements, I used a reusable bag when picking up antibiotics from the store drive thru today, and I went on a 45 minute walk! With all of the online classes, homework, and social distancing, I have found it hard to spend time outside. But I had a wonderful walk; the grass was green and the sun was shining. Really grateful! :)
