To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

This challenge was hard but I was able to complete it. I am very happy I challenged myself this month and I will hopefully continue to do these things in the future.

I have achieved all the goals I set out for! I convinced my roommate for us to stop buying bottle water, we use re-usable bottles now! Many times with shopping for this quarantine even I have asked for paper bags even if not offered! Not only have I been watching documentaries more on our beautiful planet! But I have been doing some individual research of animals around in Illinois! As far as the last one, I have been leaving no trace... but to be fair I certainly have not been having nearly as many activities as I thought I would be!

The challenges that I picked were fun to take on. I really enjoy the change of going outside for myself!

I personally really like this! I think that allows me to see how I personally impact the earth. When I set goals, I think about them more. With this, I set goals and was able to think about them throughout the day and the impact I have on the earth.

The outdoors allows you to be free and helps you self think while you are alone by yourself.

I have recently been logged off of all my social media do to the fact I have more free time to enjoy the outdoors rather than being stuck on a phone. I walked 15 miles a week and try to ride my bike to work when it isn't rainy or cold. Also, being in lockdown allowed me to get back into fishing and hiking which is something I do in my free time.

    Wildlife Research a Wild Animal
What interesting facts did you learn about the animal you researched? What are some of your favorite things about this animal?

I actually got going on several animals. I looked into coyotes, foxes, red-winged blackbirds, and red-tailed hawks. I chose all of them because, although they're wild, I've either seen or heard each near where I live. I really enjoyed the video on the National Geographic website about the coyotes because it pointed out the fine line between recognizing that predators are predators (they are going to kill their prey because that's their nature), and realizing that comes with consequences (leaving a battery-warmed bed for coyotes is a good recipe for having your innocent pets eaten by a coyote).

    Wildlife Support Pollinators
Why is it important to take care of pollinators?

It's important to take care of pollinators not only because some of them are beautiful (because some of them aren't)--but also because as we take care of them, they take care of us. It's a indirect symbiotic relationship.

I have exceeded a lot of my goals just in one day and it was not hard to do so.
