Talking with my mom is uplifting.  Talking with my sister can be draining, but I know it helps her, so that is good.  :)
I've enjoyed talking with the neighbors across the road and over the fence.  It brightens the day.

I explored a lot of trails, but most of them I already go on.  Getting out to new locations was not really an option for me this year.

    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

This doesn't surprise me at all.  I'm guilty of doing this.  I wish I had chickens I could give some of it to or at least compost it.  Doesn't make it better, but it would at least help.  I've tried to decrease my waste, but sometimes that spinach just gets stuck in the back of the drawer and goes bad.  I am getting better though.  I've noticed that since we don't go out to eat anymore, I keep better track of what is in the fridge and actually eat what I plan to eat.

First, so much is sitting unused and sharing or giving away of your unused items to someone who needs and will use them is a fantastic way to keep more coming in and making what already exists more useful.  I love that!  It also brings people together.  I have connected more with people in my neighborhood and even the surrounding area.  I was giving an old Traeger away for free.  It had been given to me by my sister years ago and I've been meaning to clean it up and use it--I haven't done that.  Someone said that they would take it and clean it up but not keep it. They would return it to me so I could finally use it.  How generous of them to share their skills, tools and time.  If I don't keep it, I will make sure I gift it to someone who needs it.

One thing I have noticed is that quarantine and not being able to easily go to the store has increased the level of sharing in the neighborhood.  I have people borrowing tools and books or needing an ingredient for something tasty.  There has also been a lot of cleaning up of clutter and free giveaways to repurpose things to a place where they will be used.

    Forests Advocate for Forest Protection
Higher standards of living are very often dependent on moving our environmental costs elsewhere. What are some specific ways in which the environmental impacts of your own lifestyle might be shifted elsewhere?

The impacts of supply chains for products we buy are depend on raw materials and factories far from our homes. That these impacts are so distant from us makes it easier to discount them and harder to identify them. Example: Without reliable eco-labels like FSC-certification, it's very difficult to know if paper packaging we buy contributes to deforestation (end even then, there are less-reliable eco-labels and sustainability claims that might be confusing to well-meaning consumers).
