    HEY TIGERS!!!!

Although Keep Louisiana Beautiful's Love the Boot Week events scheduled April 20 to 26 have been canceled, KLB will remain a resource for everyone who is seeking ways to build and sustain vibrant, clean communities. This link has some activities to help us all feel connected to one another, our community, and our environment during this challenging time. It takes 21 days to make or break a habit. Start incorporating eco-friendly habits in your home and life.

We invite you to join the Love the Boot conversation everyday on social media by sharing photos and videos of your activities with #LoveTheBoot. #GeauxGreen #GeauxTigers

I would like to show this at the LSU Union Theatre this fall semester to continue our on-campus dialogue about diverting food waste from the landfill.

    People Spend Time Outside
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

In these times of social distancing, people have learned to appreciate the moments that we spent outside the house. Being outdoors with nature is now more meaningful,

    People Keep My Community Clean
How does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?

I am more aware of the litter itself. Now after picking up litter in the park I walk in, I feel more connected to keeping it clean and safe for the wildlife. I have taken more pride in keeping a cleaner community.

    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

We take for granted the convenience of packaged meat in the grocery stores. However, agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, using way too much water for agriculture, and raising animals only for slaughter. Not to mention, they release more methane into the atmosphere.

    Oceans Join a Cleanup Effort
How does working with others to clean up your community make you feel?

It was amazing to see the trash then not see it once the area was clean. I participated in the Great American Cleanup last year, and I helped clean three parks and an area beneath the interstate. You have no idea how much trash gets thrown out of vehicles until you’ve cleaned around the roads!

What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

I’m most concerned about how we aren’t seeming to grasp and understand the magnitude of our bad habits. People don’t believe there is an issue in the United States because we don’t live with the real tangible issues other countries face like shortage of clean water, dying species, deforestation in a rainforest. We take all the conveniences for granted and it makes it harder to switch to eco friendly things.
