First and foremost, I am grateful for giving us a chance to evolve and exist in the planet. Here is a brief excerpt of some of my thoughts as a letter to Mother Earth:

Dear Mother Earth, you are the above all and provide us the necessities for our survival and thrive to even push beyond your motherly lap to explore the rest of the cosmos. We owe our existence to you and only you, while our father figure sun brighter our days with its rays of light rendering the energy needed for life and uncle moon keep us balanced on our axis with a slight tilt thereby creating the seasons we relish.

Dear Mother Earth, you nourish us with the land that the stand on and use to grow our food, the air that keeps us alive and feel the aroma of nature, the water that is key to life’s unique existence. We are your children and owe our sustenance to you.

Dear Mother Earth, please give us a chance to correct our humanly follies that have destroyed some of your gifts that have kept life flourishing here. We need you and all the other fellow species as our one big family. Let us give back our love to you through whatever we can muster. We can never do enough in a single life time however we can teach our next generations to live amicably and free of the burden of destruction that some of our generations that caused to our dear mother. Love you to infinity and beyond!

Found out the following advisories for the state of Illinois:

THE METHYLMERCURY ADVISORY APPLIES TO PREDATORY FISH IN ALL ILLINOIS WATERS. Predator fish include all species of black bass (largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and spotted bass), striped bass, hybrid striped bass, white bass, walleye, sauger, saugeye, flathead catfish, muskellunge, and northern pike. I have been eating only eggs and no meats since last 2 months, however my only consumption of sea food used to be wild caught salmon and shrimp, which are not part of this advisory. Good to be aware of this resources though.

Can't wait for my tiny seedlings to get as big as this beauty from last summer!

Bigger seedlings are butternut squash plants that I started from seeds plucked right out of a squash that sat on my kitchen counter for a long time before I cooked it. SO EASY and those seeds were free!  The smaller ones will be red sunflowers.  All will be transplanted outside in 2-3 weeks.  Cooking tip: I pureed the squash and add 1/2 cup to mac n'cheese to add creaminess without extra dairy.

Today, I enhanced my knowledge about the pollinators, as they dwindling populations need to be brought back to normal levels. Unfortunately, the high reliance on pesticides, monoculture, etc. need to be curbed.
To me, it feels like our lives are depicted is a lot of movies already, where masses don’t heed the warnings of scientists about pertinent threats until they are finally hit hard. Current COVID crises is a living example of this, where our careless in destruction of wildlife has led to these viruses spreading to humans, who currently lack any immunity. Hope we learn finally.

Action Track: Building Resilience Support Pollinators
Why is it important to take care of pollinators?

Pollinators are responsible for bulk of our food production. Short term benefits of industrialization and technology have led to devastation of pollinators. We need to make people realize that we ought to strive for balance between nature and industry/technology.

The brief sunny spell we had today before the rain set in reminded me of my longest hike this past fall - Topanga State Park in California.
