It encourages a connection to nature and the community in which that environment exists in.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Oceans Learn about Our Oceans
What is one way in which oceans support your life on Earth? What is one way you can help take care of ocean health with your actions?

The ocean supports my life on earth by maintaining an ecosystem that brings life into clean and fresh water areas. Encourage the government to place more environmental restrictions on waste dumping from corporations and cities as there are many chemicals that are dumped into our waterways that make their way into the ocean and kill marine life and coral reefs.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Building Resilience Spend Time Outside
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

    Makayla Blackburn 4/03/2020 4:43 PM
Yes, if we dont discover or understand the beauty, mystery, and complexity of nature we wont be able to see the value in it. We cant value what we havnt seen or experienced.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

Yes it is surprises me, im curious to know if most of their food waste is in produce or if it comes from processed foods or freeze burned items. I would rather save the month than waste it and donate some to local food pantries.
