Action Track: Building Resilience
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 20 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.
Food
Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste and save money by prepping for 1 meal(s) each day, only buying the ingredients I need.

Salmon Life Cycle Activity Book
Salmon are critical to our ecosystem. Learn about their lifecycle with this free downloadable activity book. I will print this activity book for my kids (or myself) to complete and learn about salmon!
Wildlife
Support Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators. I will plant a pollinator garden in my backyard or community space to support local native pollinators.
Climate
Walking Challenge
Once a week I will walk somewhere I normally drive.
Fresh Water
Erosion in a Bottle Learning Activity
Soil & water are precious resources. Learn how to protect them with this fun experiment! I will complete the Erosion in a Bottle Activity with my children to teach them about the impacts of erosion on water quality and water health.
Fresh Water
Invisible Ink Learning Activity
Science is fun, especially when you get to write secret messages. I will complete the Invisible Ink Activity with my children to teach them about pH, acids and bases.
Fresh Water
Walking Water Learning Activity
Water is essential for all life. Learn more about how it moves with this cool experiment. I will complete the Walking Water Activity with my children to teach them how water moves through porous surfaces (and to have fun while learning about science).

REFLECTION QUESTIONForests Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?
Makayla Blackburn 4/30/2020 5:04 PMIt encourages a connection to nature and the community in which that environment exists in. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONOceans Learn about Our OceansWhat is one way in which oceans support your life on Earth? What is one way you can help take care of ocean health with your actions?
Makayla Blackburn 4/30/2020 5:03 PMThe ocean supports my life on earth by maintaining an ecosystem that brings life into clean and fresh water areas. Encourage the government to place more environmental restrictions on waste dumping from corporations and cities as there are many chemicals that are dumped into our waterways that make their way into the ocean and kill marine life and coral reefs. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Earth Day Together! Earth Day Action: Share Eco TipsWhat environmentally friendly habit have you most recently implemented? How do you ensure that you are successful in creating or changing a habit?
Makayla Blackburn 4/29/2020 8:04 AMbeing more mindful of waste i contribute to the landfill by reducing and recycling more and avoiding products or packaging i'm unable to do this with. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Makayla Blackburn 4/03/2020 4:43 PMYes, if we dont discover or understand the beauty, mystery, and complexity of nature we wont be able to see the value in it. We cant value what we havnt seen or experienced. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
Makayla Blackburn 4/03/2020 1:58 PMYes it is surprises me, im curious to know if most of their food waste is in produce or if it comes from processed foods or freeze burned items. I would rather save the month than waste it and donate some to local food pantries.
