Oceans
Advocate For More Packaging Options
Plastic packaging can clog our water ways and the stomachs of sea creatures. I will advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, at work, or on campus.
People
Keep My Community Clean
I will pick up 10 piece(s) of litter each day while following the CDC’s current guidelines for prevention of disease transfer.
Food
Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste and save money by prepping for 2 meal(s) each day, only buying the ingredients I need.
Food
Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
I will spend at least 30 minutes learning how to differentiate between sell by, use by, and best by dates.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 3 meatless meal(s) and/or 1 vegan meal(s) each day of the challenge.
Wildlife
Use Reusable Bags
Plastic bags can be mistaken for food by many wild animals. If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.
Fresh Water
Dishwasher Efficiency
I will scrape, rather than rinse, dishes before loading into the dishwasher and only run the dishwasher when it’s full.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

C-Jae Breiter 4/09/2020 1:22 PMThe challenge is in some ways easier but in others more difficult during this time of self-isolation. I think in general we are all living a bit more frugally and working from home for the most part so that goes hand in hand with using less fuel to get to work, better meal planning, eating out of the pantry and home made meals, etc. In other ways, there are less options to use reusables at stores do to hygiene concerns and more heating of our houses for our cold climate. How is everyone else doing through this?-
Kaman Choi 4/09/2020 5:41 PMI'm expecting electrical bills to be a lot more because we're using computers at home for work, but appreciate being able to eat at home and not having to reheat anything. Saving on laundry too!
