Use Muscle Power
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips, and I will only use muscle-powered transportation for all other trips.
People
Write Letters or Emails
I will write 1 letter(s) or email(s) per day to a public official or company to advocate for planet-friendly and/or environmentally just policies.

Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

Lisa Brenskelle 4/28/2020 4:01 PMEnjoying riding my bike to/from work each day. I take the new bike lane near my house, and there is very little traffic now. -
Lisa Brenskelle 4/22/2020 3:34 PMDoing okay with sending at least one e-advocacy for eco-justice each day. I am hoping that I can continue this going forward. Some days I get multiple requests, and other days only one (or infrequently, none). There are so many eco-justice issues on which to advocate - which is also true of justice advocacy more broadly - it never ends, but persistence is necessary to affect change. -
Lisa Brenskelle 4/18/2020 3:15 PMDidn't ride my bike today for transport, because rain was predicted.... -
Lisa Brenskelle 4/16/2020 2:39 PMThere is a new bike lane on Austin, near my home, and I used it today to get to work. I am so pleased that this bike lane, which was first discussed more than one year ago, is finally being put in place. -
Lisa Brenskelle 4/13/2020 5:24 PMBiked to/from work, and stopped at the pharmacy on my way home. Unfortunately, due to everyone panicking, there had no rubbing alcohol, which is what I was looking for. Oh well.... -
Lisa Brenskelle 4/11/2020 11:48 AMBiked everywhere today, and accepted no plastic gags at all. Yeah!! -
Lisa Brenskelle 4/07/2020 4:23 PMI've been enjoying riding my bike to/from work in downtown. The streets are now so quiet that it is much safer. -
Lisa Brenskelle 4/04/2020 3:05 PMI couldn't ride my bike to my office today, because it was raining most of the day. Normally, I would opt to take the bus, but I'm avoiding public transit during the pandemic. While I am worried about financial impact on public transportation, I am unwilling to talk the risk. So, my husband drove the car & dropped me off on his way to the Farmers Market. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Write Letters or EmailsHow might thinking creatively help us address big systems problems - like plastic pollution - differently?
Lisa Brenskelle 4/01/2020 3:03 PMSometimes we are too narrow in looking at options. Looking more broadly & with an open mind will likely reveal additional pathways. I find this to be true in life in general. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate Use Muscle PowerHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Lisa Brenskelle 4/01/2020 3:02 PMBiking is solitary, whereas riding the bus is communal. But, in a time of Coronavirus, solitary is likely best.
