  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

Seeing the actual numbers is shocking. Not only is it a waste, but that money could go to use in more meaningful ways. Honestly, I would rather donate $1,500 to conservation efforts or to charities helping feed those in need. Maybe invest in a small garden of my own to grow some of my own produce.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    People Connect While Social Distancing
How does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?

I have a lot of older relatives who live far away and have been in quarantine by themselves. I try to connect  with them a least a couple of times a week. It lets me learn more about them as we chat and it gives them someone to talk to- sometimes for two hours. I have been able to slow down my life and connect on a more personal level with some of the most interesting and insightful people I know. Chatting with them gives me connection to people outside my daily norm which opens up perspective on life and the world around us.
