Laila's actions
Action Track: Building Resilience
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 100 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.
Oceans
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When marine wildlife ingest plastic, they have a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 6 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Action Track: Earth Day Together!
Earth Day Action: Write a Love Letter, Poem, or Song to Earth
I will express my love and gratitude for our Earth by writing a love letter, poem, or song to Earth.
Fresh Water
Conserve Toilet Water
I will save up to 12 gallons (45 L) of water a day by flushing only when necessary.
Fresh Water
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 5 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Forests
Use a Reusable Mug
If possible, I will avoid sending 7 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Food
Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
I will spend at least 5 minutes learning how to differentiate between sell by, use by, and best by dates.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Use a Reusable Water BottleUsing the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed - both humans and wildlife - by this bottling process?

Laila Dure 4/27/2020 8:44 AMWhen I drink water juice or anything lately I've been using reusable products to preserve the usage of paper or plastic cups. -
Laila Dure 4/27/2020 8:39 AMI read into CNN health to see the truth about food expiration dates. People seem the misunderstand the meaning of sell-by. Sell by is actually for stores each leads many people to throw away lots of premature food. People are more concerned about quality than what the food is worth.
