Dishwasher Efficiency

I will scrape, rather than rinse, dishes before loading into the dishwasher and only run the dishwasher when it’s full.

Choose LED Bulbs

I will replace 4 incandescent lightbulb(s) with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.

Advocate For More Packaging Options

Plastic packaging can clog our water ways and the stomachs of sea creatures. I will advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, at work, or on campus.

Smart Seafood Choices

I will visit seafoodwatch.org or download the app and commit to making better seafood choices for a healthier ocean.

COMPLETED

I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips, and I will only use muscle-powered transportation for all other trips.

Research Benefits of Biodiversity

I will spend at least 16 minutes researching how biodiversity positively impacts our world and how the loss of biodiversity harms it.

COMPLETED

Wildlife

Support Pollinators

At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators, including monarch butterflies, to produce fruit. I will spend 16 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Wildlife

Seek Alternative Gifts and Souvenirs

Bringing home unique souvenirs from trips you’ve enjoyed is meaningful, and giving people unique gifts from other places is fun. Seek souvenirs and gifts that support local communities and do not cause harm to the environment or wildlife.

Not sure how I can encourage it.  But I can promote it in my own backyard by creating a safe sustainable environment for the rabbits, birds, squirels, and bugs.  But maybe not for coyotes...

    Reva Fox 4/22/2020 3:45 PM
The majority of plants require animal-mediated polination.  If we want plants and food, we need to take care of all kinds of polinators.
