Amy's actions
Climate
Choose LED Bulbs
I will replace 1 incandescent lightbulb(s) with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.
Action Track: Earth Day Together!
Earth Day Action: Share Eco Tips
Through social media or on the Earth Day Ecochallenge feed, I will share my favorite environmentally friendly habit with my friends, even if it’s not an Earth Day action.
Climate
Choose Renewable Energy or Purchase Renewable Energy Credits
I will sign up for my utility company's clean/renewable energy option. If my utility does not offer one, I will purchase Renewable Energy Credits to match my usage.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 30 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.
Fresh Water
Water-Friendly Beauty Products
Avoid beauty products with micro beads or harsh chemicals that will feed into the ground and your water supply.
Fresh Water
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Wildlife
Research a Wild Animal
I will spend at least 15 minutes learning about a wild animal I find interesting, including their life cycle, habitat, ecosystem functions, and interactions with humans (if any!).
Forests
Plant Trees
I will plant 1 native tree(s) in my community, public parks, or backyard.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Connect While Social Distancing
I will connect with at least 5 person/people a day through phone call or video chat to support mine and other’s mental and emotional health during this challenging time.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Amy Gjoka 4/22/2020 11:27 AMEco tip from Judy Boland: "Don’t rinse your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. What do you think a dishwasher is for?Load it right. Use the right amount of detergent and they all get clean. It’s like magic ". My added comment to this is just to scrape the plate clean with a fork prior to loading into the dishwasher. -
Amy Gjoka 4/22/2020 11:25 AMMy Eco tip for Earth Day: If you still want to use your reusable grocery store bags you can leave them in your trunk and bag your groceries at the car instead of in the store with plastic bags. Of course this works better with nice weather . -
Amy Gjoka 4/08/2020 8:44 AMIn preparation for Easter this week my toddler and I just researched rabbits. Now we are going on a rabbit search around the outside of our house. -
Amy Gjoka 4/02/2020 6:46 PMMy 3 year old and I planted a tree in the back yard yesterday! He may have been more excited to dig a hole then put the tree in it, but hopefully it lasts until he's old enough to appreciate it!
