REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlife Leave No TraceEducator Stephanie Kaza advises her students to focus on what they care about most when addressing the enormity of ecological problems. Is there a specific area you feel particularly called to work on?
Natasha Herrera 4/22/2020 12:32 PMNot specifically, I don't really feel called to work on something specifically. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONOceans Learn about Our OceansWhat is one way in which oceans support your life on Earth? What is one way you can help take care of ocean health with your actions?
Natasha Herrera 4/22/2020 12:26 PMThe ocean is Earth's life support. A large percentage of oxygen comes from the ocean. The ocean regulates our climate, absorbs carbon dioxide, and our security and economy requires healthy oceans because we need it. I can reduce waste, conserve water, Use less energy, and for people to fish wisely and not to throw trash into the oceans. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Natasha Herrera 4/21/2020 12:24 PMPeople in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places because they like meat and since they have more of it, they eat more of it. Eating more meat affects the planet when they make greenhouse gases and cause global warming.-
Lora Jones 4/21/2020 11:24 PMThat is the truth...The global livestock industry produces more greenhouse gas emissions than all cars, planes, trains and ships combined and a huge contributor to global warming. But the U.S. is surprisingly not the #1 meat consumer:https://ourworld.unu.edu/en/eating-less-meat-essential-to-curb-climate-change-says-report

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Connect While Social DistancingHow does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?
Natasha Herrera 4/13/2020 1:40 PMIt helps me by being able to talk with other people and friends. It can help support people who are lonely or sad talk with someone. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Natasha Herrera 4/13/2020 1:38 PMI think that it is true and I think that people should spend more time outdoors than indoors. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Conserve Toilet WaterWhat would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?
-
Lora Jones 4/15/2020 9:42 PMWatering lawns in our local neighborhoods uses a considerable amount of water. Imagine conserving water by filing front yards full of drought tolerant herbs and flowers!
