I'm hope is that people will notice how our environment has improved and will consider making wiser choices when it comes to everyday choices.

Terza's actions
Action Track: Building Resilience
Research Local Climate Issues
I will spend at least 1 minute(s) a day researching climate issues or climate solutions in my local area and share with others through my team feed, social media, or conversations with my peers.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Research Benefits of Biodiversity
I will spend at least 20 minutes researching how biodiversity positively impacts our world and how the loss of biodiversity harms it.
People
Keep My Community Clean
I will pick up 5 piece(s) of litter each day while following the CDC’s current guidelines for prevention of disease transfer.
Climate
Stay on the Ground
Instead of traveling by plane, I will find an alternative way to accomplish the goals of an upcoming trip (i.e. telepresence, vacation locally).
Action Track: Building Resilience
Volunteer in my Community
I will volunteer 5 hour(s) in my community helping people who are most at need right now, including elderly and immunocompromised people, people without childcare, and people whose jobs have been affected by social distancing measures.
Food
Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste and save money by prepping for 3 meal(s) each day, only buying the ingredients I need.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Terza Kurki 4/30/2020 8:17 AMSorry team, life got busy and I fell off the challenge! In reality I just didn't get a chance to record my actions. It's a daily commitment to record this info so props to our team's leaders... Go Jody and Michael! With that said, remember an eco-challenge should not be just a one month challenge. We should be doing our part in every action we perform or partake in on a daily basis. Always being mindful of how each action taken will affect the environment and those around you. What environmental footprint are you leaving behind? -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Research Local Climate IssuesIn what ways is your local community resilient to shock events like we’ve experienced recently? How could you help it become more resilient?
Terza Kurki 4/24/2020 9:26 AMWith WFH in place, there have been so many conversations taking place in the news about how our world is becoming cleaning now that no one is traveling via plane and car. Manufacturing plants have reduced production of products due to Covid-19 . All of which is having a huge impact on our environment! Oceans, rivers, lakes are clearer, less air pollution causing problems, animals are coming out of the wild to celebrate the serenity of no humans!
I'm hope is that people will notice how our environment has improved and will consider making wiser choices when it comes to everyday choices. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Research Benefits of BiodiversityHow can you encourage biodiversity by your own actions?
Terza Kurki 4/24/2020 9:17 AMBiodiversity occurs daily in my backyard. Composting food waste daily generates energy within the soil which gets transferred over to the garden. When seeds planted begin to germinate within the composted soil it sprouts new growth which in turn adds oxygen to our atmosphere. As the seeds continue to grow it becomes a food source for not only myself, but also for those lovely grey squirrels who love to grab a juicy tomato off the vine.
Another benefit to gardening is the variety of birds and insects that are attracted to the flowers. Last year I noticed at least seven different types of dragonflies <3 -
Terza Kurki 4/24/2020 8:41 AMHappy Friday! Get outside today, take a walk, pick up some litter, stay socially distant while still being neighborly :) -
Terza Kurki 4/13/2020 2:12 PMJust learned about the Feed tab by viewing the how-to video. Fun to see what others are up to :) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Volunteer in my CommunityHow does volunteering enhance your community and/or change your relationship with it?
Terza Kurki 4/08/2020 9:57 AMI love my neighborhood! Helping my neighbors or doing good things for them is just second nature! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Terza Kurki 4/08/2020 9:56 AMLiving in a community that cares, matters to me. If I see garbage when I'm out and about I'm happy to do my part and pick it up. I also grab large branches for my firepit. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
Terza Kurki 4/08/2020 9:54 AMThis does not surprise me in the least. I personally have had to be more mindful about over purchasing food that eventually ends up getting tossed it out. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate Stay on the GroundWhat was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?
