Action Track: Earth Day Together!
Earth Day Action: Share Eco Tips
Through social media or on the Earth Day Ecochallenge feed, I will share my favorite environmentally friendly habit with my friends, even if it’s not an Earth Day action.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 20 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.
Wildlife
Seek Alternative Gifts and Souvenirs
Bringing home unique souvenirs from trips you’ve enjoyed is meaningful, and giving people unique gifts from other places is fun. Seek souvenirs and gifts that support local communities and do not cause harm to the environment or wildlife.
Action Track: Earth Day Together!
Earth Day Action: Write a Love Letter, Poem, or Song to Earth
I will express my love and gratitude for our Earth by writing a love letter, poem, or song to Earth.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Connect While Social Distancing
I will connect with at least 1 person/people a day through phone call or video chat to support mine and other’s mental and emotional health during this challenging time.
Fresh Water
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 1 meatless meal(s) and/or 1 vegan meal(s) each day of the challenge.
Wildlife
Use Reusable Bags
Plastic bags can be mistaken for food by many wild animals. If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlife Seek Alternative Gifts and SouvenirsHow do your consumption choices affect the health of wildlife and other communities?
Brynn Litus 4/28/2020 12:59 PMIf I use plastic, and that plastic goes into the ocean, the plastic is still going into everybody's ocean, and it's not just affecting me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Earth Day Together! Earth Day Action: Share Eco TipsWhat environmentally friendly habit have you most recently implemented? How do you ensure that you are successful in creating or changing a habit?
Brynn Litus 4/28/2020 12:56 PMAs of now, I keep my eye out for drippy sinks because we had one in our house, and I made it so that we could use the water, not waste it. I ensure I am successful by reminding myself of the habit I want to create and making sure I act accordingly. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Brynn Litus 4/28/2020 12:54 PMI think it does ring true. If you spend most of your time indoors, you don't feel as happy and you also don't get fresh air, which is good for you. -
Brynn Litus 4/28/2020 12:52 PMHi, I just checked in and completed some challenges! How are your challenges going? -
Brynn Litus 4/21/2020 7:34 AMSomething I do to help the earth is when I go for a walk and I see trash on the ground, I pick it up. -
Brynn Litus 4/20/2020 12:41 PMI just wrote a poem to Earth for one of my challenges! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Earth Day Together! Earth Day Action: Write a Love Letter, Poem, or Song to EarthWhat are you grateful for about our planet? Share what you created or your general thoughts of love and gratitude with everyone else!
Brynn Litus 4/20/2020 12:40 PMI love that there are so many things we don't know about Earth and how we can keep discovering these new things. I hope we can save the earth! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Connect While Social DistancingHow does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?
Brynn Litus 4/20/2020 12:38 PMJust seeing your friend can make you happier. It helps people through this tough time to know that we are all in this together.
