REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlife Research a Wild AnimalWhat interesting facts did you learn about the animal you researched? What are some of your favorite things about this animal?
Erin Rowe 4/24/2020 1:44 PMSome may not believe it, but a hedgehog is in fact a wild animal. They mainly live in Europe, Asia and Africa. I had no idea that they could climb trees and eat frogs. I was also surprised that the hedgehog is mentioned in 2 of Shakespeare's plays: "The Tempest" and my personal favorite, "Midsummer Night's Dream." Shakespeare refereed to them as "urchins'. I have a love for these little spiny animals and received one as a Christmas gift. Being nocturnal has its downfalls since they are asleep when I want to play lol. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Erin Rowe 4/24/2020 1:13 PMYes, this quote does ring true for me. Many people spend time inside working, going to school, shopping and even in transit. Due to lack of sunlight people may suffer from anxiety and depression. They may start to snack more freely and gain weight which is a health risk where as if outside you are away from being a 'couch potato'. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Erin Rowe 4/24/2020 9:34 AMI would assume that the richer countries can afford the better cuts of meat. Eating more meat affects our planet in two ways. For one: it decreases the animal population so we aren't over run by animals. And two: we need the protein i our bodies as well as iron from healthy, grass fed animals. But, when eating animal protein the FDA HAS to be vigilant in supervising that the standards for meat/food are being met.
