Christian's actions
Forests
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area while following CDC guidelines for social distancing.
People
Connect While Social Distancing
I will connect with at least 4 person/people a day through phone call or video chat to support mine and other’s mental and emotional health during this challenging time.
People
Earth Day Action: Research and Support Local Organizations
I will spend 60 minutes researching local organizations and businesses in my community, then support one of them by writing a testimonial or positive review, ordering curbside, making a donation to my favorite nonprofit, or supporting them in another way.
Wildlife
Support Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators, including monarch butterflies, to produce fruit. I will spend 30 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.
Wildlife
Leave No Trace
I will respect and protect biotic communities by practicing the seven principles of Leave No Trace when doing nature activities alone or with family and friends.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Research Local Climate Issues
I will spend at least 60 minute(s) a day researching climate issues or climate solutions in my local area and share with others through my team feed, social media, or conversations with my peers.
Forests
Use a Reusable Mug
If possible, I will avoid sending 8 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.

REFLECTION QUESTIONForests Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?
Christian Sanchez 4/19/2020 5:57 PMBeing outdoors allows you to understand the connection of life. Spending any time in the forest , you’ll come to feel the trees breathe the essential oxygen we need, while also getting to see and smell the greatness of crisp forest air. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlife Leave No TraceEducator Stephanie Kaza advises her students to focus on what they care about most when addressing the enormity of ecological problems. Is there a specific area you feel particularly called to work on?
Christian Sanchez 4/19/2020 5:39 PMI’m quite fascinated with ecological impacts on marine and wildlife. I have major concerns with the future of creatures like the Vaquita and the Pangolin.-
Christian Sanchez 4/19/2020 5:42 PMTo clarify, these are two separate thoughts, and I recognize pollution isn’t the cause of the decreasing populations of the state’s animals, rather poaching is the hand by which they have been killed.

REFLECTION QUESTIONForests Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Christian Sanchez 4/10/2020 10:31 AMInitially, it took finding a well made one-which now I have. But now the biggest challenge that stands in the way of its use are guidelines on campus related to use of personal containers. To combat this, I’ll lessen the amount of liquids I consume from the dining hall and instead use my mug at water fountains around campus
