Forests
Forest-Friendly Foods
I will replace or remove the palm oil, coffee, and cocoa products in my current diet that are known to contribute to deforestation.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 30 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Support Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators, including monarch butterflies, to produce fruit. I will spend 30 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.
Action Track: Earth Day Together!
Earth Day Action: Write a Love Letter, Poem, or Song to Earth
I will express my love and gratitude for our Earth by writing a love letter, poem, or song to Earth.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Laurie Thompson 4/21/2020 3:34 PMThis definitely rings true for me. If we spend all of our time indoors, maybe we're not really whole? We all crave nature...we put flowers in vases on counters, we have pets, we have indoor plants, we might have posters or paintings of nature hanging on our walls. But we can't always bring nature TO us, we have to go find her where she is. I'm never been religious or felt spiritual until I thought of the passing of the seasons or appreciated where food comes from. I still believe I have so much more to learn.
