Food
Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste and save money by prepping for 2 meal(s) each day, only buying the ingredients I need.
Food
Compost Food Waste
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill each day by composting my food or learning how to.
Fresh Water
Dishwasher Efficiency
I will scrape, rather than rinse, dishes before loading into the dishwasher and only run the dishwasher when it’s full.
Fresh Water
Water-Friendly Beauty Products
Avoid beauty products with micro beads or harsh chemicals that will feed into the ground and your water supply.
Fresh Water
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 6 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Water-Friendly Beauty ProductsBeyond what does or doesn't come out of the tap at home, how do your choices affect freshwater locally and globally?
rachael ventura 4/07/2020 5:14 PMSingle serving plastics being kept out of the system is my goal. Also less micro-plastic in my body, and in wildlife. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Dishwasher EfficiencyHow can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?
rachael ventura 4/07/2020 5:12 PMTurn the water off when brushing teeth and washing hands. We installed an instant-hot faucet to prevent running tap water until it's hot. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Compost Food WasteNew to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? How will you use your compost once it is ready?
rachael ventura 4/07/2020 5:11 PMI started keeping vegetable scraps in the freezer and will use it to make broth. Coffee grounds will fertilize my garden plants. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
rachael ventura 4/07/2020 5:10 PMDoes not surprise me unfortunately. Many people are not aware of best storage practices, and can't/don't always utilize freezing options to save food. Not to mention the sheer amounts of "regular-sized" restaurant servings that go to waste.
I would rather use that $ for vacation or home improvements.
