Earth Day Action: Research and Support Local Organizations
I will spend 5 minutes researching local organizations and businesses in my community, then support one of them by writing a testimonial or positive review, ordering curbside, making a donation to my favorite nonprofit, or supporting them in another way.

Through social media or on the Earth Day Ecochallenge feed, I will share my favorite environmentally friendly habit with my friends, even if it’s not an Earth Day action.

Learn about Our Oceans
I will spend at least 10 minutes learning about how our oceans support life on Earth by producing oxygen, regulating climate, and providing habitat, food, and jobs.

Smart Seafood Choices
I will visit seafoodwatch.org or download the app and commit to making better seafood choices for a healthier ocean.

Research a Wild Animal
I will spend at least 10 minutes learning about a wild animal I find interesting, including their life cycle, habitat, ecosystem functions, and interactions with humans (if any!).
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

Annie Weiss 4/28/2020 3:11 AMAny pointers for composting in MKE city?-
Julia Petersen 4/28/2020 9:00 AMHello there,
The city does have a pilot program, and some of our neighbors participate. You can find more info here: https://city.milwaukee.gov/Milwaukee-Recycles/Yard-Food-Waste/Organics-Collection-Pilot.htm#.XqhRt6hKhPY
Looks like there might also be possibility of residential private service: https://www.compostcrusader.com/residential/
I just purchased a home composter (outdoor), and so far so good (though it's only been two weeks). I'm looking forward to adding to our garden hopefully in 10-12 weeks. In my research, I found that there are some pretty cool indoor composters that sit on a counter or have an attractive stand (most are worm composters, and because they are, they say there's no smell) if that's something that is of interest.
Whatever way you compost, it reduces so much from your home's waste production!
Best,
Julia
