At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators, including monarch butterflies, to produce fruit. I will spend 30 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONForestsHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?
Shawn Ballard 4/28/2020 10:27 AMSince I moved to St. Louis, biking through Forest Park has been an important part of my enjoyment of the city. Getting some fresh air and enjoying the scenery on my commute makes me feel better overall and definitely improves my workday. -
Shawn Ballard 4/27/2020 10:41 AMOnly a few days left! Finish strong, team! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeopleWhat is your big takeaway from an event that you attended?
Shawn Ballard 4/26/2020 11:07 AMI attended several events focused on at-home recycling, composting, and gardening. My goal was to learn what more I could in my own backyard, and the answer is a lot! Taking regular yard waste and food scraps to make a compost pile will not only reduce how much we're putting in the bins, but it will also support the garden we're planting to grow vegetables and support pollinators. -
Shawn Ballard 4/22/2020 8:14 PMHappy Earth Day! Still loving the virtual Earth Day events! -
Shawn Ballard 4/21/2020 3:38 PMI appreciate being able to catch up on Earth Day events by watching recordings after work. One upside to virtual Earth Day! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building ResilienceWhy is it important to take care of pollinators?
Shawn Ballard 4/21/2020 3:27 PMPollinators of all types--not just bees--are necessary to food production. It's also nice to have a bright and lively garden!
