  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Fresh Water Eco-friendly Gardening
What are the most prominent water concerns in your area? Examples include drought, flooding, pollution, access, security, and privatization.

    Richard Chen 4/07/2020 9:51 PM
The most prominent water concerns in my area are drought problems and water pollution. In previous years, big medical companies would pollute the water and lands like landfills would pollute the water source. However, in recent years, that got a lot better. The only problem is drought, probably caused by global warming. This is reason why I am taking actions against climate change, so that my community can be protected.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    People Connect While Social Distancing
How does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?

    Richard Chen's avatar
    Richard Chen 4/03/2020 1:05 PM
Talking about what I am troubled about with someone else helps me to release stress and solve the problem. I want to talk with more people so I can help them like the way connecting with others will help me.

I really like all the challenges I accept to do. Not only do they serve the purpose of protecting the environment, but I also learned many additional pieces of knowledge about ways to protect the environment and about nature itself. I will continue to do all my challenges and do my best to encourage others to do the same.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife Support Pollinators
Why is it important to take care of pollinators?

    Richard Chen's avatar
    Richard Chen 4/02/2020 5:58 PM
Because the som ecosystem's biodiversity requires pollinators. The pollinators would increase the gene pool and increase the survival rate of many plants.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife Research Benefits of Biodiversity
How can you encourage biodiversity by your own actions?

    Richard Chen's avatar
    Richard Chen 4/02/2020 5:57 PM
I would post blogs and write articles on how biodiversity is one of the most important factors of maintaining an ecosystem. Without biodiversity, disasters like successions would completely destroy and eliminate many ecosystems, which would in turn hurt both the environment and our society.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Forests Explore My Area
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?

    Richard Chen's avatar
    Richard Chen 4/02/2020 5:55 PM
I can get to know places around me better and gain experience about where I should exercise in the future.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Forests Forest-Friendly Foods
How difficult or easy was it to change your diet?

    Richard Chen's avatar
    Richard Chen 4/02/2020 5:54 PM
It was pretty easy to change my diet because I was planning to change my diet to meatless diet due to my weight. I wanted to decrease my weight during the quarantine period. Therefore, the challenged fit well with my plan.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate Choose LED Bulbs
Changing lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?

    Richard Chen's avatar
    Richard Chen 4/02/2020 5:53 PM
Using more public transportation and eat less meat, like steak, would effectively reduce carbon emissions.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Fresh Water Conserve Toilet Water
What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

    Richard Chen's avatar
    Richard Chen 3/31/2020 12:31 PM
In order to have a sustainable water future in my region, factories would need to stop polluting water. In some cases, farms also need to have less farm animals, so that chemicals like phosphate and nitrate would be less in water, making water quality and dissolved oxygen in water higher and better.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
How does food sovereignty address the complex agrarian transition to modern food systems?

    Richard Chen's avatar
    Richard Chen 3/31/2020 12:29 PM
Big food manufacturers and corporations at first didn't really care about the environment; they just cared about the capital. However, organizations like FDA and other NGO keep them in check and force them to be environmental friendly.
