REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Earth Day Together! Earth Day Action: Share Eco TipsWhat environmentally friendly habit have you most recently implemented? How do you ensure that you are successful in creating or changing a habit?
Barbara Cockfield 4/30/2020 12:29 PMI normally would wash clothing daily, but now I wait until I have a full load of dark, colors, whites, or sheets/towels before I run a load. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Barbara Cockfield 4/29/2020 12:18 PMYes, it rings true for me. When I get outside every afternoon I feel rejuvenated and feel at peace with nature. Being able to go out and run allows me to relieve the stressors of the day, but doing so in a park or on a trail gives me such a level of serenity as I take in the trees, birds, the sounds of the water flowing and the beautiful blue skies.-
Scott Royael 4/30/2020 12:17 PMHi Barbara....Even stepping outside or taking a 5 min walk helps center me, give me energy, and lower stress. The funny thing is how I seem to forget the benefits until I step outside...and say to myself "I really need to do this more often." - which reminds me It's time for a quick walk!

Barbara Cockfield 4/22/2020 7:47 AMAs I reflect on Earth Day one of my daily commitments is to use a reusable coffee mug daily. The past few months when I have purchased coffee I tried to remember to take my reusable Starbucks mug to the shop. #EarthDayEcochallenge #EarthDay2020One of my many mugs -
REFLECTION QUESTIONForests Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?
Barbara Cockfield 4/15/2020 5:48 PMRunning outside on local trails and in local parks gives me a sense of belonging. It also allows me to leave behind the stressors of the day and get outside with my own thoughts and feel and hear mother nature. The sunshine gives me an emotional and physical boost. I love running and walking outdoors. -
Barbara Cockfield 4/09/2020 1:27 PMBecause of the horrible weather, I couldn't go outside to run, but I did an online Yoga class. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Connect While Social DistancingHow does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?
Barbara Cockfield 4/08/2020 3:49 PMConnecting with others helps to reassure family and friends that even though we are physically distant we are healthy- physically, emotionally, and mentally. Using FaceTime and other video chats help them to see you as well which even more reassuring. Social connection improves physical health and psychological well-being. Our connections help to decrease anxiety and a sense of depression. -
Barbara Cockfield 4/08/2020 3:28 PMI'm amazed at how many gallons of water I'm saving by flushing less. It really causes me to pause and think about how much we are hurting mother earth. -
Barbara Cockfield 4/06/2020 4:45 PMI complete a three-mile run and one-mile walk.
