Register for Earth Day
I will register for a FREE ticket to attend the virtual St. Louis Earth Day Festival which spans from April 18-26, 2020, in order to gain access to daily live content and links that highlight the amazing work in our community that are paving way for a more sustainable future.

Participate in Earth Day
I will participate in at least (___) daily live events during the virtual St. Louis Earth Day Festival, which spans from April 18-26, 2020.
Fresh Water
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Wildlife
Support Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators, including monarch butterflies, to produce fruit. I will spend 90 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 60 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.
Food
Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
I will spend at least 60 minutes learning how to differentiate between sell by, use by, and best by dates.
Climate
Local Climate Issues
I will spend at least 15 minute(s) a day researching climate issues or climate solutions in my local area and share with others through my team feed, social media, or conversations with my peers.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 6 meatless meal(s) and/or 5 vegan meal(s) each day of the challenge.
Forests
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area while following CDC guidelines for social distancing.
Forests
Plant Trees
I will plant 5 native tree(s) in my community, public parks, or backyard.
Oceans
Advocate For More Packaging Options
Plastic packaging can clog our water ways and the stomachs of sea creatures. I will advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, at work, or on campus.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlifeWhy is it important to take care of pollinators?
Rita Fulton 4/27/2020 7:00 AMPollinators sustain our ecosystems providing us with clean air and help stabilize soil. They pollinate plants that are responsible for bringing us one out of every three bites of food. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Rita Fulton 4/14/2020 9:08 AMFor sure this makes me a better planner of meals. I used to buy some foods on impulse only to find I was wasting food that I couldn't use before it expired. Now I really think about what I need and how soon I will be using it. So I don't buy it if I am not going to use it right away or within a weeks time. I also have been more inspired to grow my own vegetables. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building ResilienceRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Rita Fulton 4/14/2020 9:05 AMIf I could I would spend most of my time outdoors. I love the outdoors. I think it is healthy and good for everyone. The more people learn about the natural world the more they can protect it and keep it beautiful for generations to come.
