Bishkek has a huge polygon of garbage outside of city, Residents would benefit greatly from city composting or even paid composting services. None of these yet happened in Bishkek. We would like to implement composting project in the nearest future in AUCA and share the knowledge with our community,

We have more birds singing outside of our apartment and in the parks of Bishkek city these days while quarantine. The air pollution has considerably decreased and there is no smog anymore. The city is clean and our mountains that are in half an hour drive from the city are finally visible. I can see them from my window. This past winter Bishkek ranked #1 several weeks in terms of air pollution worldwide. I am very happy that we are giving our nature and its ecosystems a break from us humans- the main pollutants.

One of the considerable efforts to preserve the biodiversity in Kyrgyzstan is saving the snow leopard habitat that considered sacred animal for Kyrgyz. The presence of snow leopard indicates a healthy ecosystem in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. At the beginning of the 21 century this big cat was near extinction due to pouching and illegal hunting and increased economic activity in the mountainous regions of the country. With increased efforts to save the snow leopard both national and international its population started to grow in the Sarychat-Ertash state nature reserve, one of the country’s prime snow leopard habitats. More information needs to be distributed to promote this beautiful and rare animal for the sake of ecosystems and biodiversity of the region.

Thank you for sharing; I enjoyed reading about the snow leopard.  Your writing reminded me that National Geographic had filmed a special episode on this species; I wonder if it was filmed in Kyrgyzstan??

Some of the villages in Kyrgyzstan still don't have proper access to drinking water in the households. This fact affects rural population of Kyrgyzstan. According to World Health organization's recent data: "The percentage of population with regular access to drinking-water is 99.7% in cities and regional centers, 85.4% in rural areas, and the country average is 87.4%. Limited availability, accessibility and poor quality of drinking-water lead to increased incidence of acute intestinal infections in the population"

Clean water is a basic human right according to the UN SDGS. I wonder whether there are local community groups are working on this issue.
