REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Shea Roccaforte 4/03/2020 8:02 AMThe lockdown means that most people spend a majority of their time indoors, and that can be detrimental to the mental health of us all. For the Bard Sustainability Office, I am currently making a video that will hopefully motivate people to go outside and enjoy the sunshine on some walks/runs. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Shea Roccaforte 4/03/2020 8:00 AMI love the parks near my house, and I want the community to enjoy them. I have seen more people than ever at the park because of the lockdown. I walk my dogs to the park everyday, and cleaning it up when I come by is a small act I can do to make a larger impact in my community. I want people to enjoy the outdoors and not feel so alone during this time!-
Laurie Husted 4/03/2020 4:05 PMThank you, Shea! Do they have trash & recycling bins in your park? are they convenient? what kind of discarded items do you see? Any way to connect the dots on making it easier for people to do the right thing?

Shea Roccaforte 4/03/2020 7:58 AMWent to the park near my house to pick up a disastrous amount of trash from an easter party that someone had. Of course, I wore gloves and other protective equipment in this trying time, Be safe, and help make your neighborhood safe for others!-
Laurie Husted 4/03/2020 4:06 PMWow; I wonder what led them to leave it all behind. thanks for doing more than your part! Role modeling the right behavior goes a long way towards motivating others
