Action Track: Building Resilience
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 30 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.
Climate
Choose Renewable Energy or Purchase Renewable Energy Credits
I will sign up for my utility company's clean/renewable energy option. If my utility does not offer one, I will purchase Renewable Energy Credits to match my usage.
Wildlife
Use Reusable Bags
Plastic bags can be mistaken for food by many wild animals. If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.
Climate
Choose LED Bulbs
I will replace 4 incandescent lightbulb(s) with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.
Wildlife
Research a Wild Animal
I will spend at least 60 minutes learning about a wild animal I find interesting, including their life cycle, habitat, ecosystem functions, and interactions with humans (if any!).
Fresh Water
Conserve Toilet Water
I will save up to 12 gallons (45 L) of water a day by flushing only when necessary.
Fresh Water
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Fresh Water
Eco-friendly Gardening
I will plant native species, landscape with water-efficient plants, and use eco-friendly fertilizers.
Fresh Water
Dishwasher Efficiency
I will scrape, rather than rinse, dishes before loading into the dishwasher and only run the dishwasher when it’s full.

Jessica Yang 4/26/2020 8:02 PMIt's been moving along. Life has it's up and down and to stay indoor is hard! I still find time to sit outside or take my dog for a walk to be able to get exposure to the sun and fresh air. No shopping this week for food since we have plenty at home to eat still. -
Jessica Yang 4/21/2020 8:45 PMI am soo excited that I can go back to fill in my missing days! I am getting tired of just regular water and I switched up to drinking water with fruit infused. My reusable bag is now my purse. Challenge is going great! -

REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Conserve Toilet WaterWhat would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?
Jessica Yang 4/13/2020 1:53 AMIt would be great if my boyfriend and his mom drink weren't so afraid to drink tap water. They need to always buy water bottles. We can save more buy drinking tap water or buying a filter.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Dishwasher EfficiencyHow can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?
Jessica Yang 4/13/2020 1:51 AMIt would be nice to not water the outdoor plants to save water. With having to be stuck indoors now. We use the shower and the bathroom more often. The dream to have the gym back so I can save on water should be coming soon -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Eco-friendly GardeningWhat are the most prominent water concerns in your area? Examples include drought, flooding, pollution, access, security, and privatization.
Jessica Yang 4/13/2020 1:48 AMWe don't have a fence. Due to our HOA rules we cannot have them if we do they need to be wood and all out of our own pockets. We've come to realize to the last owners love flowers and planted many bulbs randomly in the yard. It was a surprise when we watered the yard this year and lots of tulips started to pop up. It is a waste to water the plants outside since it's not exactly our home. We rent and the changes and plants we want have to be approved from the owners and property management. -
Jessica Yang 4/13/2020 1:38 AMSimple tasks and I'm starting to make it a habit to get outside time. Its It's going Great -

REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlife Research a Wild AnimalWhat interesting facts did you learn about the animal you researched? What are some of your favorite things about this animal?
Jessica Yang 4/08/2020 2:43 PMSilly enough I watched the tiger king and then that got me interested into learning about tigers. I learned that there are many breeders who breed the animals illegally. In the wild tigers have their babies and let them stay until they are 2.5 years. They are basically big kitties. A lot to handle when they grow up. Females are more calmer and don't take up territory as much as males. Male tigers if they do not get over 23+ miles of territory they can get very aggressive. In the USA, there are more breeders with tigers than wild tigers in the world. My favorite things about these animals is their fur color and patterns. They are soo exotic and yet soo powerful!
