Fresh Water
Eco-friendly Gardening
I will plant native species, landscape with water-efficient plants, and use eco-friendly fertilizers.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Connect While Social Distancing
I will connect with at least 4 person/people a day through phone call or video chat to support mine and other’s mental and emotional health during this challenging time.
Wildlife
Leave No Trace
I will respect and protect biotic communities by practicing the seven principles of Leave No Trace when doing nature activities alone or with family and friends.
Wildlife
Support Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators, including monarch butterflies, to produce fruit. I will spend 60 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 2 meatless meal(s) and/or 2 vegan meal(s) each day of the challenge.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Rebecca Yoshino 4/13/2020 9:39 AMI invited my 11 year old daughter to join the Ecochallenge and she in turn invited some of her friends to join. It has been a really nice experience doing this together and a way to meaningfully engage with simple climate solution actions with measurable deliverables that grow as we work collectively to change simple personal habits, patterns and behaviors, while educating, inspiring and competing with each other to do better. My daughter has been working with her 6 year old brother, identifying topics (animals are a favorite) to research. We always include research on environmental threats, conservation efforts and behaviors we can change or enhance to help support.-
