Finished our Earth Month with a vegan dinner—vegan barbacoa (made with lentils), homemade cabbage slaw and guacamole, and salsa canned at home from last summer’s harvest! 

Looking forward to continue be mindful of my family's impact on the environment and to do the little things each day to take care of our earth!

When my kids and I stop a pick up trash along the side of the road, I feel more connected to the community because it's taking care of my community, just like cleaning my own house. It feels good to take that same route and not see trash along the street or sidewalk. 

We just watched The Story of Plastic, which was available for a free screening through Eureka Recycling.  What a fantastic film!  I highly recommend checking it out, as well as this group: https://www.breakfreefromplastic.org/

Biked one of our local trails with the family and for Earth Day picked up litter filling two bags towards the end of our ride (so I didn't have too long to bike with the trash). As we were finishing a group of walkers (that we had passed) thanks us and offered to take the trash to dispose of it since we were on our bikes. It takes a village!

Tomorrow's the big day--the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day!  What are you planning to do to celebrate?  My husband and I are hoping to get outside to clean our adopted storm drains and pick up litter.  It should be a beautiful day to get outside!

Still waiting for our solar panels to be installed!

It's a great conversation starter when neighbors see me outside with gloves and a bag!
