PETER's actions
Wildlife
Use Reusable Bags
Plastic bags can be mistaken for food by many wild animals. If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 66 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Research Local Climate Issues
I will spend at least 15 minute(s) a day researching climate issues or climate solutions in my local area and share with others through my team feed, social media, or conversations with my peers.
Fresh Water
Dishwasher Efficiency
I will scrape, rather than rinse, dishes before loading into the dishwasher and only run the dishwasher when it’s full.
Fresh Water
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 4 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

PETER LARKIN 4/20/2020 11:21 AMI refuse to use either a paper or plastic straw. -
PETER LARKIN 4/20/2020 11:20 AMWe just instituted the use of new cloth napkins alleviating the need/use of paper ones. I expect that measure to save us at least 20 paper napkins every day. We did this in response to our talking about how to help the earth a bit more.-
Mary Beth Waltman 4/22/2020 7:56 AMI recently switched to using cloth napkins as well!

PETER LARKIN 4/11/2020 6:36 AMI realized today that as I'm our resident potato peeler (how that happened I have no idea) and I usually turn the water needlessly on when I start. As I'm not using it yet, I'll now wait until I need the water. That can save hundreds of gallons of water a month. Just thinking about conservation does matter. -
PETER LARKIN 4/01/2020 7:03 AMNot only is this a worthwhile endeavor but it also reminds me to think about the planet I'll leave others. It is a good daily reminder.
