Write to my rep to advocate for New Green Deal
bla bla
Forests
Talking with nature
I will take time each day to "speak" with birds and trees - I find that if I do, I am much more aware of them and appreciative of the beauty and variety that we still have.
Forests
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area while following CDC guidelines for social distancing.
Climate
Online Climate Strike
I will participate in the virtual meeting of the climate strikers: https://www.earthdaylive2020.org/?link_id=0&can_id=2678aed0d4925170e9ea989ef07f0592&source=email-test-5097&email_referrer=email_763012&email_subject=will-you-join-us-at-earth-day-live.
Climate
Connecting teh dots between COVID 19 and Climate Action
My goal is to encourage my representatives to make sure that any future COVID legislation/ stimulus packages include approaches that also help climate change: supporting green jobs, for example, especially in energy efficiency.
Climate
Local Climate Issues
I will spend at least 15 minute(s) a day researching climate issues or climate solutions in my local area and share with others through my team feed, social media, or conversations with my peers.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Uli Nagel 4/30/2020 4:44 PMOh - and thank you team members, for showing up and inspiring me to stick with it! -
Uli Nagel 4/30/2020 4:43 PMI learned about the "Rights of Nature" movement today and that Sheffield, MA, a town not far from here, will be the first in Massachusetts to vote on a resolution giving the Housatonic river the formal and legal right to be healthy and thrive. I am so moved by the effort of the people who made this possible and hope it will pass at the town meeting. -
Uli Nagel 4/29/2020 1:02 PMMy native plants will arrive this week - Jerusalem Artichokes, ground-nuts, American hazelnut and American redbud....it will be a joy to plant them!-
Anne Legene 4/30/2020 2:45 PMthat's exciting, Uli! Hazelnut...yum. I am planting more Service Berry (for the birds).

Uli Nagel 4/29/2020 1:00 PMI am learning a lot doing this challenge. Strangely, I am learning how much I am actually doing...most things go unnoticed until this tool asks me to think about my day and record certain actions. I really appreciated running into Ephemerals today, here is one of them....tiny beauties that made my day. -
Uli Nagel 4/26/2020 6:03 PMI watched Michael Moore's documentary today "Planet of the Humans" It is not easy to watch and even though I have questions about some of the things he is saying, it is clear that he is really making an important point: unless we change our habits of consumption and our way of life, any climate "solution" will exploit the earth even more.-
Anne Legene 4/30/2020 2:47 PMLook in the comments for legitimate criticism of this movie: https://www.filmsforaction.org/watch/michael-moore-presents-planet-of-the-humans/?fbclid=IwAR2MSqcCU9KgUEQb-luER6RbAB1WNIEN1oWKSK7GCeL_8m4gpEPbjhHz9P4
And yes, the main point is well taken!

Uli Nagel 4/26/2020 6:00 PMToday I spawned 8 logs with oyster mushroom spawn and also learned about how mushrooms can help remediate pollution, It was so much fun! -
Uli Nagel 4/26/2020 5:58 PMI called my reps today about supporting a MA carbon fee and dividend bill that Our Climate - a youth-led carbon pricing initiative is promoting (H2810). Please contact me if you are interested in also helping to get it passed. It only takes a few minutes of you time. -
Uli Nagel 4/26/2020 5:56 PMLearned about the importance of protecting the local forests today from an article by Raei Bridges, chair of the local NAACP environmental justice committee. -
Uli Nagel 4/22/2020 6:09 PMI "met" two wonderful huge old oaks today, along a section of the Appalachian trail in Egremont I had never been at before. And here is a picture of a tree covered in a whole tribe of mushrooms on teh same trail. -
Uli Nagel 4/19/2020 6:11 AMI turned 60 on Friday and went for a long hike all by myself. I listened to brooks and (surprisingly few) birds, frogs and the wind and all were saying "life, the earth will win". I looked out over valleys and hills and saw the patience, creativity and power, the earth has to rebuild. I am so grateful to be alive, to be part of this patience and power and creativity and renewed my vow to let these qualities govern my work for and play with this beautiful planet.
