So happy to have made such an incredible impact with all of you, it's crazy to look at the numbers and see how much is possible in just one month plus I know that not everything was logged and that our impact reaches far beyond what the numbers show!

They are home to 230,000 known species (95% of the ocean hasn't been explored so many many more) which are part of our ecosystems. They provide food, transportation, natural beauty, and are massive carbon sinks!

    Oceans Smart Seafood Choices
Many states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?

The advisories within Washington that I found were mostly related to avoiding fish that have contaminants, or that are high in Mercury. There were also recommendations for how much fish you should eat in one meal. They weren't really based on any environmental statistics though. I think there is a lot more that our local governments and federal government could do to increase the health of the fish in our region and all throughout the United States and the world. One example would be more protections for Salmon and removing or working on infrastructure to help the salmon get across some of the dams around Washington state.

Pollinators are so so important! They are the reason we have food to eat and in order to preserve the ecosystems we live in we need to protect them.

I haven't been perfect so far in the Eco Challenge, but I'm really proud of what I've done. I'm sad that this is my last Eco Challenge with Garfield Green Team. I have learned a lot of new things and challenged myself in new ways. I hope everyone had a blast. I love you all <3

Because our entire ecosystem relies on them!! 1 out of every 3 bites we take relies on bees. There are tons more pollinators like bats, hummingbirds, ants, etc.

Action Track: Earth Day Together! Earth Day Action: Share Eco Tips
What environmentally friendly habit have you most recently implemented? How do you ensure that you are successful in creating or changing a habit?

I have most recently been focusing on reducing my food waste. One of the ways that I am working to that is by saving all of my veggie scraps like kale stems, onion skin & offcuts, etc. for homemade veggie stock, plus by making my own veggie stock I can avoid all of the packaging that comes along with veggie stock from the grocery store.
