RECYCLE BREVARD SPEAKS FOR THE EARTH Feed

BACK TO TEAM PAGE

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

What I learned is that the more we challenge ourselves and the more we pay attention to  things around us and the actions we take, the greater the chance to change for the better, reduce our impact and live a better life.

The most difficult task in this challenge was to finish watching the documentaries I had selected. Dominion was far harder to watch than Earthlings. I cried the whole way through... Awful... How can all that be happening and be allowed, be legal??? How are people capable of doing those jobs and be able to be so cruel? Who could come up with those methods of treating a live, fellow sentient being? It is just insane what goes on in the meat, dairy, egg, fur, leather, down, cosmetics, entertainment, pet (and animal control) industries. And once you know it, you cannot "unknow" it and pretend free-range or cage-free or humane has any meaning in those industries. This is a devastating reality. We can find animal products in everything from soaps to gelatin. Things I had no idea... sometimes not even by reading the labels we know because ingredients may be under different names. I am more certain now than ever before that taking the steps to becoming vegan was the right thing to do. And I will do whatever I can to support the ones fighting for those animals - that's a very hard, hard job.

Starting another day... still trying to get a regular schedule going - stop working  at certain time has been the most difficult. It just runs through the day and then when I realize, the day is over. Gotta do better and follow my alarms. At leadt I have been getting my walks in!

Today I was filled with joy because i spent so much time in the garden; it brought me to thinking about the future of the planet and all the different things that we could be doing to help avoid the catastrophic effects of climate change; education - education - education

Fresh Water Use a Reusable Water Bottle
Using the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed - both humans and wildlife - by this bottling process?

The most important thing we can do is to spread the word about what's happening.  When I first read about Nestle' i was stunned; i couldn't believe something like that could happen; i brought it up in discussions with my friends and acquaintances and realized no one knew about this - that was several years ago - and still, today, i find way too many people don't know.  Education is the primary force in this.  The more people who know the more people who can do something.  This is the most bizarre practice i've heard of in terms of water - "when you know better, you do better"
